Physical Description:
Bio: Kirek Paz (pronounced "key-wreck pause") is a petite Bajoran woman with wavy, sandy brown hair that extends just past her jawline, with long bangs that she tries to keep tucked behind her ear. She has sharply defined features, and her chin tapers to a delicate point, giving her mouth the appearance of being too large for her face. She is very slim, with delicate wrists and slender fingers.

Paz has spent the past six years investigating The Expanse while assigned to the U.S.S. Endeavour, and has been studying the cosmological characteristics of several unique local anomalies. Also, as a result of her doctoral work in conjunction with nanobiologists, she has a passing understanding of indigenous nanoscopic organisms.

Outside of formal Starfleet functions where proper decorum is paramount, Paz tends to speak her mind without spending a great deal of time considering the consequences, which has resulted in strained relationships with coworkers in the past.

Ambitions:
One day Paz hopes to return to Bajor as a professor and researcher in astrophysics at the Ilvian Aeroscience Institute in her hometown. In the meantime, she strives to gain a better understanding of the workings of the universe, in an attempt to add whatever she can to the body of galactic scientific knowledge.

Personal History:
Paz grew up during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. Her parents were informers for the Bajoran Resistance before she was born, and for her protection, as a young girl she was moved from safehouse to safehouse, staying for a few months at a time with many different families. While in foster care, she heard stories of her parents' bravery, but to this day she has never met them in person. As a child she suffered from repeated medical ailments, for which she received what little treatment was available. Being a small, feeble child, Paz spent a great deal of time reading, and as a teenager she came to understand that her real strength was not physical. At the age of 17, the Occupation ended, at which point Paz dedicated herself to a career of higher learning, believing that the pursuit of knowledge would progress her people beyond the dark memory of their genocide at the hands of the Cardassians. Re-establishment of the Bajoran higher education infrastructure occurred slowly, with many setbacks, so after doing what she could to help in that effort, she enlisted as a scientist in Starfleet, eventually achieving the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade) after completing her doctorate in astrophysics.
